Jawad Bhatti, the owner and chief therapist at Positive Outcome Counselling and Therapy,
centers on providing psychoeducation and psychotherapy to individuals, couples and families.
As a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service
Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers, he has been providing
psychoeducation and psychotherapy to children and adolescents, adults, couples, and
professionals for over a decade. Using his Bachelor’s and Master of Social Work from York
University, a B.A. (Hons) from the University of Toronto and a certificate in Alternative Dispute
Resolution, Jawad has further chosen to be trained in several treatment modalities such as
Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Brief Solution
Focused Therapy. This has accredited him the role of education coordinator for the mental
health department at a major hospital in Toronto and is an adjunct professor at the University of
Toronto to assist in properly serving his community and beyond to meet the needs of today’s
various crises. Jawad is also a faculty advisor in the department of Social Work at York
University.
Jawad’s strength lies in the ability to connect with people and help them truly understand
themselves and how they work. He states, “watching someone find their truth is one of the most
satisfying and rewarding experiences one can have”. In fact, Jawad believes that the key
component of the therapeutic relationships is rapport and trust. He views skill, education and
the clients commitment to therapy as secondary to the relationship that can be built with one
another. “If there is trust and a strong rapport, therapy is more likely to be useful and successful
to the client” he goes on to furthermore say. This technique resonates through the work he
performs with clients from various backgrounds such as newcomers to Canada, youth,
individuals and those involved in the criminal justice system. His calming personality and
nonjudgmental process allows clients to feel comfortable while providing a space that is
inclusive and conducive to honest and open discussions.
With an incessant desire to continually contribute his gifts, Jawad’s skills and experience has
extended into the healthcare system facilitating for a Child and Adolescent ADHD clinic. Further
to this, Jawad’s nurturing nature has bolstered his various roles at a community agency where
he has administered psychotherapy to youth in a residential treatment setting, mental health
programming in secondary schools in the surrounding region, and crisis skills as an on-call
youth therapist for 310COPE. It is with this that Jawad has and continues to strive to bring an
effective blend of experience, expertise, clarity, concern and action to the counseling process in
order to maximize outcomes and provide genuine healing and wholeness to individuals.
